The Ultimate Seat Back Protector

Under new government regulations it will be compulsory for the under threes to use the child seat or booster appropriate for their age in any vehicle. Children aged three and up to the age of twelve will also have to use the correct child restraint as adult seatbelts are designed for people over 150cm in height and with an adult bone structure. It will also be illegal to use a rear facing baby seat in a seat protected by an airbag.

From May 2008 the European Union's UN ECE 44.03 or later standard child restraints must be used (meaning the restraints have undergone rigorous testing before they can be deemed suitable for sale).

The government estimates the planned rule changes could prevent up to 2000 child deaths or injuries every year.

Small children need the protection that baby seats and child seats are designed to provide. Seat belts are designed for adults. Children who have grown out of child seats still need to use booster seats and booster cushions.

You can find out more about how these regulations affect you and your child by going to the government's child car seat website.
