Travelling with kids needn't be a nightmare. To help make sure your next journey is as painless
as possible, we've put together a list of our favourite pieces of advice for parents planning a
trip with their children.
- If you're travelling by car, plan some games to keep the kids entertained. Games revolving around the alphabet always seem to be a winner.
- Bring lots of plastic bags for rubbish and snacks. That way you can make sure that empty packets and cartons don't take over your travel space.
- If you're driving any distance and you've got an early start, take your child straight out of bed and into the car – you can get them dressed later.
- Try audio books instead of reading books. Kids can listen to them on the journey without the danger of getting carsick.
- Don't forget to pack a first-aid kit including plasters, baby Paracetamol, Calpol, re-hydration salts and a healthy supply of high-factor sunscreen (at least SPF15) and after-sun lotion
- Take a map so you can mark the progress of your journey in pen. This might help avoid listening to the ever-familiar question: "are we nearly there yet?"
- Think about ending the day with an activity like swimming. This will give your kids something to look forward to throughout the journey.
- Ginger is great for preventing and treating mild travel sickness. Ginger snap biscuits will make you very popular with kids!
- Whatever form of transport you use, make sure you allow extra time for checking, boarding or pit stops en route.
- Take a snack! Hungry kids make grumpy kids as their energy levels crash. Save yourself some drama and take a few nutritious nibbles along just in case.
Now that you've got the basics sorted, why not take a look at some of our travel products? They could
