Most pantos might be packing up and the half term fun not yet begun, but that doesn't mean there's nothing to keep the kids occupied. We've scoured the country for fun family activities to keep everyone happy while we wait out winter.

  • Family ice skating
    Blue Water Ice Rink, Kent, remains open until 23 January 2007 with daily skating from 10am till 9pm (except Sundays which has shorter hours). Children under 4 aren't permitted on the ice but can watch with a parent from one of the galleried cafes.


  • Alternatively try the Canary Wharf Ice Rink in London, open until 18 February. There is no age limit on the ice but under 12s have to be accompanied by an adult.

  • Peter Pan on Ice
    The story of Peter Pan comes to life on ice in Aberdeen (18 - 21 January), Edinburgh (25 - 28 January) and Nottingham (1 - 4 February). Show is 1.5 hours long with a 15 minute interval.


  • Brum
    Everyone's favourite supercar - Brum - will be live on stage at the Millfield Theatre, London on 11 February for two shows only.


  • The Gruffalo's Child
    Sequel to the original West End smash hit The Gruffalo showing at the Grand Opera House, York running from 5 - 7 February. Suitable for children aged 3 upwards


  • Chatterbox Challenge
    Get your child to join in ICAN's Chatterbox Challenge running from 5 - 11 February to help children communicate.


  • Aberdeen Country Fair
    Go food shopping with your kids. Held the last Saturday of each month in the heart of Aberdeen, this is one the largest markets in Scotland featuring hand-made crafts and local produce.


  • We're going on a bear hunt
    From 1 February at Seven Stories - The Centre for Children's books, Newcastle upon Tyne, children are taken on a multi-sensory adventure of this favourite book.


  • Sound Beginnings
