chicken with sweet potato and apple puree
Apple blends well with chicken to produce a lovely flavour. Chicken is a good growth food as it is packed with protein and
vitamin B12, which is not found in plant foods. Combining it with sweet potato gives it a smoother texture. This makes a
good puree for introducing your baby to chicken. It's important not to continue to give fruit and vegetable purees for
too long but also to introduce protein foods like chicken, meat and fish into your baby's diet.
Suitable for freezing
From 6 months
15g butter
40g chopped onion
100g chicken breast, chopped
1 X 300g sweet potato, peeled and chopped
½ (half) dessert apple, peeled and chopped
200ml unsalted chicken stock or use boiling water and a bay leaf
Heat the butter in a pan, add the onion and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes. Add the chicken and sauté until it turns opaque.
Add the sweet potato and apple and pour over the chicken stock.
Bring to the boil, then cover and simmer for 15 minutes. Puree to the desired consistency or chop for older babies.
Makes 4 portions.
